A little bit about our General Manager, Adam Mason!
Bars have always felt like home to mixologist Adam Mason. He started his career in the service industry in 2006 working at a local pizzeria in Connecticut where he learned hospitality & great food. During college, he studied microbiology & anatomy at Brown University which sparked in him an interest into the gastronomy of cocktails and the interaction of beverage, food & the palate.
Throughout his college years and beyond, he has worked in bars & restaurants, developing his cocktail knowledge, competing in cocktail competitions & curating cocktail programs for multiple restaurants. He’s competed in over 50 cocktail competitions, placing first in three prestigious affairs including the Cointreau Mixology Competition of 2017 and most recently, the Jack Daniels Mixology Competition of 2018.
He moved from Connecticut to Kentucky in 2014 where he learned the in’s and out’s of the bourbon industry on a more personal level. Moving to Louisville expanded his bourbon palate & provided him a whole new understanding of whiskey cocktail curation.
He joined LouVino in 2018 and quickly rose through the ranks. He curates the cocktail program at LouVino: Douglass Hills & the Highlands! This year we were excited to bring Adam into the Highlands as active General Manager and we look forward to all of the things he has planned for us!
Adam’s approach to cocktail-building is very scientific: he delicately balances sweetness, types and strengths of acidity, power players like herbs, spices & flowers and he’s always on the lookout for the latest trends. His approach to service is rooted in hospitality and building trust between his team and the guests in order to provide exceptional, individualized experiences.
